At the end of 2020, Sinobo Group, together with Beijing Construction Engineering Group and China National Sports Group, won the public bidding for Beijing Workers’ Stadium Renovation Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project and will therefore be responsible for the investment, construction and operation of the project during the cooperation period. The investment agreement signing ceremony was held in Beijing on December 31, 2020.
Completed in 1959, the Beijing Workers’ Stadium is one of the Ten Great Buildings that were built to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. As one of the main venues of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup China, the stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the final of the tournament. Due to concerns over the stadium’s safety and functionality, the protective renovation project of the Beijing Workers’ Stadium was launched in July 2020.
The construction project covers approximately 385,000 square meters and is scheduled to be delivered in December 2022. Upon the completion of its renovation, the Workers' Stadium will be transformed from a sports complex to a football-specific stadium that embraces world-class standards. It will serve essential duties in the 2023 Asian Cup and then resume its role as the home stadium of Beijing Guoan Football Club. In the future, the new Workers’ Stadium will also become a public space for civil, sports, and cultural activities as well as the city’s new center for vitality and growth.
